Ambulatory Detoxification
Ambulatory Detoxification is an outpatient option to medically manage detoxing off drugs and/or alcohol and is designed to manage the acute and potentially dangerous physiological effects of stopping use. The detoxification progress alone does not address the psychological, social, and behavioral problems associated with addiction. Detoxification should be followed by a formal assessment and participation in addiction treatment.
Ambulatory detox allows flexibility for people to meet their work, school, or family responsibilities. For many, continuing with their daily schedule provides stability as they receive detox treatment.
How does the detoxification process work?
Intake: The intake process includes evaluation, diagnosis, and assessment of treatment needs. This may include laboratory testing or a physical exam.
Observation: The clinical team monitors the client’s course of withdrawal to observe symptoms and ensure safety.
Medication Services: A physician will determine any necessary medication interventions and administer medication while assessing any possible side effects.
Treatment Program: After a client is safely detoxed from all substances, they are encouraged to start individual counseling or enroll in our SUD IOP that can address addiction, coping skills and symptom management.
