Kelley Gavigan, LMSW
Kelley is excited to bring her personal and professional experience to the team at River’s Bend West! Respect, integrity, and compassion are the values that drive everything she does. Her motivation comes from personal experience with substance abuse, grief, and trauma, understanding firsthand that recovery and healing are possible.
Kelley’s growth and recovery would not have been possible without help from qualified professionals, community support, and healthy relationships. She views mental health as a comprehensive journey, needing multiple facets of support and treatment for the best outcomes. Her professional practice includes 7 years of experience in Partial Hospitalization Programs (PHP), including group facilitation, individual therapy, case management, administration, and PHP management and supervision. Kelley is passionate about bringing PHP to River’s Bend to assist in expanding their scope of treatment. Her dedication to best-practice services and client advocacy is evident in her work.
Kelley is well versed in several counseling techniques. Her approach encompasses a variety of therapy methods based on unique group and individual needs. She recognizes and respects everyone’s differences, allowing their values and experiences to help tailor treatment. She has proficiency with all age groups and diagnoses, but specializes in adolescent mental health, depression, anxiety, and substance use.
Kelley earned her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Kalamazoo College and her Master’s degree in Social Work from Wayne State University. Originally from Traverse City, she moved to the Detroit area in 2012 and has made this her home. When she isn’t working, you can find her playing volleyball, enjoying the outdoors, or trying new restaurants.
